DIVE INSURANCE
Important Information for all Dive Club Clients
Due to a change of the insurance policies from DAN we would like to inform you, that all divers which are 75 years or older, must produce a medical certification from a physician knowledgeable about diving. The certificate should mention your fitness to dive – your current health conditions – any medication you take and its dosage.
The medical certificate has to be sent to Euro-Divers by e-mail in order to being able to clear your diving activities with DAN and to ensure that the insurance criteria’s for diving with Euro-Divers are met.
No diving activities will be possible until DAN has cleared the respective person for diving. Please send the details at least 10 days prior to your arrival to the respective dive centre in order to ensure that clearance from DAN can be obtained. We will inform you as soon as we have the clearance from DAN.
Divers who are 75 years or older are required to fill out the liability release form before arrival.
Medical Advice For Divers
Diving is a relaxing and enjoyable activity but diving can be strenuous under certain conditions. Therefore, diving requires a good level of fitness from the participants and it is important to maintain a reasonable level of health.
As many of our Dive Centres are located in areas which differ from what people are used to in terms of medical assistance, distance to hospitals and time to reach the hospital it is essential for your safety and to avoid disappointment to make sure you are fit to dive prior to your arrival.
Some people are suffering a medical condition that may be made worse by the diving activity and/or the environment and which can lead to further complications.
Key medical conditions include:
- Cardiac conditions (e.g. heart disease or high blood pressure)
- Respiratory illnesses and injuries (e.g. asthma, pneumothorax and congestion)
- Conditions that may result in a loss of consciousness (e.g. epilepsy and diabetes)
Medical Questionnaire
Therefore, it is important to properly read through the medical questions enclosed before taking part in any diving activity.
The purpose of this medical questionnaire is to find out if you need to be examined by a physician before participating in recreational diving. A positive response means that there is a preexisting condition that may affect your safety while diving and you must seek the advice of a physician, preferably by a practitioner with experience in diving medicine.
Please answer the questions of the medical questionnaire on your past or present medical history with a clear YES or NO. If you are not sure, answer YES. If any of these conditions would apply, we must request that you consult with a physician prior to participating in any Scuba Diving activity with Dive Club Maldives.
Medical Certificate
A medical certificate is not mandatory if you are generally in good health.
Before starting any diving activity, a medical questionnaire must be completed and signed. If you have any sicknesses or are taking any medication, we recommend having a medical certificate issued in advance to avoid possible delays.
If a valid certificate of fit-for-diving is confirmed and presented on-site, the certificate should be:
- not older than 1 year if you are 40 years or older
- not older than 2 years if you are under 40 years old
We also inform you that Dive Club Maldives will not accept medical certificates with a limitation, for example, to dive to a certain depth, to dive a maximum dive time or to keep a special surface interval. The medical certificate needs to clearly state that the participant is “fit for diving” without any limitation.
